With heavy heart and great sadness, I bring the news of a passing of a
long-time member of the MARC, the passing of Dr. David Filmer W9DF from West
Lafayette Indiana on Sunday evening 23 May 21. Dave was a very close friend,
mentor, and father to me in my amateur radio life and contributed to the
knowledge of all aspects of life to all members of the club. My prayers and
love go out to Christa Keck his wife and life companion when she called and
gave me the sad news last night. I won't go on at this point but will later
because I could write pages of the accomplishments of Dave and how he made
the Manitoulin Amateur Radio Club better through his guidance and knowledge.
We would not have the digital technology in our club had it have not been
I plan to hold a memorial net on Sunday 30 May 21 at 10:00 AM which will be
recorded for Christa. If you have memories or stories you would like to
share, I encourage you to check and share them with us all. Once Christa is
feeling up to it, I have asked her to return to Zoom with us and the D-Star
nets that both she and Dave have been a big part of it. I have added the
link to Dave's obituary below.
